Myths About Women And Fitness

If you're a woman who happens to be a fitness lover, chances are something is holding you back from achieving your fitness goals: MYTHS!

Myths are everywhere! Literally everywhere! From health to fitness and everything in between, genuine information is contaminated with myths and stereotypes! And they always keep people away from the truth! So it's on our shoulders to differentiate myths from the truth in order to live life to the fullest!

But as we're talking fitness today, specifical fitness from women, we'll talk about women's fitness myths! So let's get started! 1. Exercise Will Turn A Woman's Oh-So-Feminine Body Into Muscular And Masculine

One popular myth that almost every woman has heard is that working out will make their body masculine and muscular. THIS IS NOT TRUE!!! And no, we're not saying it without any solid grounds. There's a very logical and scientific reason behind it. And the reason is that males naturally have 10 times more testosterone (which leads to muscles) than females, and there's no way a woman can gain as much muscle as a man only by working out! Working out won't increase a woman's testosterone levels; hence it won't give them the amount of muscle as men have!

2. Menstruation Doesn't Affect The Intensity Of Workout

Now, this is a myth that promotes heavy workouts for women rather than discouraging it, but it's a MYTH nonetheless. So women shouldn't NOT do a heavy workout while being on their periods, as it can be harmful to them. When a woman is on her period, she experiences inflammation in her body; working out heavily in this state can damage the lower back. Hence you should avoid intense exercise during menstruation no matter how safe people claim it to be! It really is not safe! 3. Your Posture Doesn't Get Affected By High Heels

High heels are just so attractive, aren't they? Don't tell me you're a fashionista if you don't get compelled to wear a pair of sexy long heels every time you have an event coming up. But hey! Style and fitness don't always go together! If you prioritize your fitness over everything else, then you've to give up wearing high heels obsessively! Why? Because they DO MESS UP your posture, no matter how many people claim otherwise. Wearing high heels a bit too often can even cause you to experience a pelvic till by causing hyperextension in your knees. So, high heels are a big NO-NO if you're conscious about your fitness and posture. 4. Women Can Take As Much Eccentric Load As Men

Eccentric loading refers to the lifting up of weight in order to lengthen the muscles. This practice is done both by males and females to build muscles. However, there's a myth surrounding it: women can do the same eccentric loading as men. This is absolutely a myth, no matter how offensive it may sound (sorry ladies, but it's a fact!). So women CAN NOT train like men when it comes to eccentric loading because, according to research, women will get fatigued easily while lifting weights, and if they attempt to lift the same weight as men for eccentric loading, it may even decrease strength and movement capacity.

5. Calorie Control Diet Will Help You Lose Weight

This is yet another myth! Calorie control diets have gained a lot of popularity lately, but they're not actually beneficial. And there's a good scientific reason behind this claim: calorie-restrictive diets will cause a surge of lipogenic enzymes in your body as much as 50%! Yes, 50%!! This surge will cause you to store more fat in your body as compensation for the loss of muscle mass. The result? Weight gain!! 6. You Can Lose Weight Only By Doing Cardio

Another MYTH! Doing cardio is undoubtedly one of the best ways to stay fit, but it's no magic formula to weight loss. Many women think that they can lose weight only by incorporating cardio exercises in their routine, but they fail big time because cardio alone can't help them lose weight. They can only achieve weight loss by combining cardio with strength training.

Final Word

There are a plethora of myths surrounding women's fitness, and busting those myths is essential for women to achieve their fitness goals.
