Humans are regarded as social animals. We, being humans, have to communicate with each other and build relationships to live in a society. Social well-being is an important part of your overall health. An interesting thing to know is that your social health is directly linked with your mental and physical health.
What is meant by Social wellbeing?
It refers to your ability to connect with others and develop lasting and meaningful relations with people around you. As mentioned earlier, your social relations with others impact your overall health.
Why is Social well-being important?
As humans, we tend to depend on other humans because this is how human nature works. A socially well person can build interpersonal relations with others, including friendships, romantic or platonic relations, or professional relations with others. Research shows that socially healthy persons tend to live longer than others. Poor social health can have the worst implications, which include high stress levels, anxiety, depression, hypertension, poor immunity, and many other severe issues.

The graveness of the issues can be explained from the research that shows that being lonely is as bad as smoking 15 cigarettes per day. In other words, loneliness can be deadly. Loneliness does not only worsen your immune system but also causes inflammation in your body which causes many severe diseases, including heart attack. Depression is a common result of loneliness. So, loneliness is deadly for both mental and physical health.
Why are relationships bad sometimes?
The adverse thing is that not all relationships are healthy for you, and some of them can be stressful. You cannot trust everyone; people can be toxic to you. Also, the scariest thing is that people tend to change. The best way to detect toxicity is to identify if you are investing more in the relationship than the other person. Also, you must be aware of bad influences. Being "Social" does not mean making yourself naïve or vulnerable to others. You must set healthy boundaries.
