7 Yoga Stretches for a Good Night’s Sleep

Some people resort to sleeping pills to get rid of insomnia but prolonged use of these is not safe. Getting a good night's sleep is essential to stay productive, energetic, and fresh throughout the day. Lack of sleep makes you tired and cranky and is dangerous in the long run. Yoga stretches are a natural way to improve your sleep. Following are some yoga exercises that you can do to improve sleep. 1. Perfect Pose


Let’s start with the easiest pose. This is the basic yoga pose called Siddhasana. Sit upright with your legs crossed. Sit relaxed with your eyes closed in minimal light. Breathe slowly and observe silence. Keep your mind away from unnecessary thoughts. 2. Forward Bend

The seated forward bend is well-known to induce sleep. In addition to that, it is great to improve your back posture. If you face sleep issues due to stress, this pose is for you. Sit on the floor with your legs straight together and stretch out your arms straight upwards. Now slowly bend, bringing your chest near your thighs. Reach downward placing your elbows on the ground with your hands lying on the ground.

3. Legs Up the Wall

This pose is a great way to provide rest and recharge your body. It is easy to perform. Place a blanket near a wall and sit near the wall against your hips. Now bend to lie back placing your legs straight upwards against the wall. If you find it hard to maintain that position, you may tilt your legs pushing your hips away from the wall a little. 4. Happy Baby

The happy baby pose is one of the easiest and most fun poses to improve your sleep. Lie straight and place your knees against your chest. Now keep your legs straight, making a 90-degree angle with your thighs. Hold your feet with your hands reaching them straight upward.

5. Waterfall Pose

It is an excellent pose for beginners, and you can do it in your bed. Here is how to do it. Lie straight on your back. Now bring your knees towards your chest and stretch your hips with your legs upward to make sure they make a right angle with your body. This pose has a great soothing effect on your body. 6. Reclining Bound Angle


This pose targets your lower body. Lie down straight on a mat with your legs bent. Bring soles of your feet together and push away your knees in the opposite direction as much as you can. You may put a cushion or pillow under your knees for support. Lie your arms at a 45-degree angle on the floor.

7. Corpse Pose

Last but not the least, corpse pose is known to reduce your blood pressure. It is a great way to sum up all the stretches you do at night. Lie straight on your back with your legs and arms stretched outward freely.
